Restoration of essential services in North underway

Authorities in the North are working round the clock to ensure the restoration of essential services.

In Labasa, water supply has returned to normal as well as the electricity.
Those living in elevated areas are receiving intermittent water supply.

In Savusavu, FEA is working on all the fallen lines and poles to ensure electricity is restored.

Many areas of Savusavu have downed power lines on or across the roads.

A genset has been installed at Vunikoka to help pump water to the surrounding villages, while most areas in Savusavu are receiving water now.

A team from Labasa is being dispatched to Savusavu today to help in the restoration of water supply there.

In Nabouwalu, electricity is also yet to be restored, as well as in other parts of the Bua Province.

For the roads, the road from Nabouwalu through to Nagigi can only be accessed right up to Makolei.

The Cakadrove West Road is only accessible up top Naviavia.

The road from Macuata North, up Saqani to Savusavu is clear as well as from Nayarabale to Savusavu.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea reiterated the need for authorities to work quickly to restore these essential services to the people.
