Resign and vacate the church premises

This is the stand of the Methodist Church of Fiji for any of its church ministers who want to stand in the upcoming election.

Speaking to FBC News President Reverend Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa says they will not stop any ministers from supporting any political party however, they need to surrender their position if they wish to do so.

“If any of our church minister wishes to join a political party must resign from the church, resign from being a minister and vacate the church premises and then he has the freedom to join any party.”

Reverend Vakadewavosa says warnings are being issued continuously and various church districts and ministers are aware of what their constitution states about joining a political party.

Vakadewavosa has advised church ministers to be thoughtful before deciding to stand for the Election.
