Some people choose to turn a blind eye on crimes happening in their communities because they are related to the perpetrators.

Speaking at the Bagasau Village meeting on Monday, Corporal Kibau Kaburoro from the Tukavesi Police Station says when this happens, the crimes will keep happening.

He says this rings true especially for marijuana cultivation and its use, which is prominent in the district.

Kaburoro says many turn a blind eye to it because they are closely related to those cultivating marijuana and even their family members are using it.

He stressed that the use of marijuana often leads to the committing of other serious crimes which will heavily impact the community.

Kaburoro urged the villagers that reporting a family member or relative for committing a crime will not take away their link but will help create a safety net for the community, in ensuring such crimes never happen again.

He says the law is paramount and advised the villagers to call the Police when they see any crime being committed because they consider all crime as serious.
