Replace Constitutional Roadmap FLP

Fiji Labour Party does not agree with the Constitutional Consultation process announced by the Prime Minister earlier this month.

FLP members made the call after their council meeting in Ba today.

“The Fiji Labour Party today met and called for the constitutional roadmap outlined by the Prime Minister to be replaced. Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry says the Constitutional Roadmap should be truly independent and genuinely inclusive. He says the various steps there in were determined without any consultation with political parties or civil society organizations. FLP recommends that Presidents Political Dialogue Forum known as PPDF that was abandoned after the abrogation of the constitution to resuscitated to determine a road map based on concensus.FLP National Council has also called for full participation of people through the removal of all restricted decrees and policies that includes freedom of assembly, association, expression and movement."

Meanwhile the Party has appointed Vice President Sachida Singh as the Acting President.

Close to forty members were present at today’s meeting.
