The renovation of Government Quarters is progressing well.

In 2012, up to 204 government quarters have undergone major and minor repairs.

PSC Permanent Secretary parmesh Chand says their target for the year was initially 80 but they have been able to do more.

The repair works that have been carried out by the private contractors include the total overhaul of the kitchen, toilets, bathroom, windows, roofing and new paint works and tiling for at least 129 quarters.

There were about 75 quarters that required specific maintenance to be done such as only wiring, leakages, toilet repairs and so forth.

Next year, PSC plans to renovate 38 teachers quarters at Nasinu Secondary School and Adi Cakobau School with an additional 15 in Taveuni.
