Repair work for major leakage along Vaturu-Nagado pipeline completed

February 10, 2019 5:30 pm

Repair work to the major water leakage along the Vaturu-Nagado high-pressure pipeline has been completed.

The Water Authority says their crew started work along Vaturu by de-watering the high-pressure pipeline from the Vaturu Dam to the Nagado water treatment plant.

WAF Board Director, Kamal Gounder says they were able to isolate the leakage point to conduct the repairs without causing any major disruption to Nadi and Lautoka customers.

Gounder says the leakage was due to a burst and worn out rubber from the joiner.

He says this shows the aging infrastructure and WAF is working to conduct necessary upgrades to the existing water systems around the country.

WAF General Manager Customer Services, Sekove Uluinayau says that water restoration is currently in progress.

Uluinayau adds that water supply is expected to normalize by 6am tomorrow.

WAF continues to cart water to customers in the affected areas as well as to community tanks that have been placed in strategic locations.
