Major repair work to restore a leakage along the Vaturu-Nagado high pressure water pipeline at Batiri is now underway.
Water Authority Manager Customer Services Sekove Uluinayau says the leakage is suspected to have started from the welding joints and has deteriorated over the last few weeks.
Uluinayau says the leakage has resulted in WAF losing approximately a million liters of water per day.
He adds residents are advised that WAF will carting water to affected areas where water tanks are located.
Trucks are on standby to provide backups to these tanks and re-fill these tanks once empty. Also for some critical areas, we are supporting them by involving water carting trucks.
Water supply is currently disrupted in parts of Lautoka and is expected to normalize by 6am Tuesday morning.
