Repair of wharves to cost millions of dollars

The Fiji Ports Corporation Limited is expected to utilize millions of dollars to repair the Suva Wharf.

However, the specific amount will be determined after the completion of the Condition Assessment.

FPCL Chief Executive Vajira Piyasena says for the first quarter of this year, they will focus on the repair work of the Suva and Lautoka wharves.

“The assessment takes like three to four weeks and they have to inspect the underwater parts and water pilling and all that and it’s an important exercise.”

Meanwhile, an Australian engineering consultant company has been engaged to carry out a condition assessment at the two wharves.
