Renewable Energy Source setup in Fiji necessary:Suckling

Setting up more renewable energy sources in Fiji is necessary to help achieve Sustainable Development Goal of reducing greenhouse gas emission by thirty percent.

Australia’s Ambassador for Environment Patrick Suckling says his country is ready to provide funding and necessary assistance to Fiji in this regard.

“There are many villages in Fiji that are off grid, so can you get off grid renewable energy solutions to villages and to households and we have been talking to Fiji on different levels about Fiji seeking finance through the green climate fund for renewable energy projects.”

He says that he has discussed with Fijian leaders about where the country needs assistance and how funding can be approved for these initiative.

Suckling adds that using renewable energy sources is one of the steps that can be taken to lower carbon emission.
