Removing old Rewa bridge will be costly: FRA

While public safety remains the key focus of the Fiji Roads Authority, removing the old Rewa Bridge will be an expensive affair.

FRA Chief Executive Jonathan Moore says the authority has other work to do instead of focusing on the removal of the bridge.

Moore says some people are still raising concerns about parts of the bridges falling off, which can be dangerous for people.

“To demolish that bridge is a very expensive exercise and, to be honest right now, we believe, we have more imperative work to do by replacing bridges which are very vulnerable and the money to do that is best served not used to remove the bridge.”

Moore says people just need to ensure that they do not sit, cross or stay near the bridge for their own safety.
