Police officers in the Northern Division have been reminded to remain apolitical as campaigning in the lead up to Election heats up.
Police Chief Operations Officer, ACP Maretino Qiolevu told officers in the Northern Division during their final brief before the Election that the Force is an apolitical institution.
He reminded the officers that if they have any political aspirations or wish to get involved in political matters, they should do the right thing and leave.
ACP Qiolevu says they do not want to be caught in a situation where the credibility or allegiance of the uniform is questioned.
He adds, there will be situations where the work of police officers will be thrown into the proverbial “boxing ring.”
ACP Qiolevu urged officers that when this happens they should not worry about what is being said about them or the Police Force but continue to do their work.
