May 9, 2018 1:32 am

Fijians affected by the recent floods in the Western Division will soon be receiving assistance from members of the Fijian community in New Zealand.

Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Auckland, Harish Lodhia mobilised a disaster relief assistance that is being stored in two twenty feet containers currently on their way to Fiji.

The containers contain new and second-hand clean clothing, new plastic tubs and buckets, assorted non-perishable packaged food items such as flour, canned baked beans, cooking oils, bottled drinking water, rice and other items.

The Fiji High Commission in Wellington is promoting the relief effort on its social media platforms and mailing list. It is also using its contacts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Suva to lobby for customs duty waivers for this humanitarian assistance.

Much of the assistance is targeted towards affected families in Ba.
