Relevant stakeholders to work together

A research will be carried out under the Fiji REDD-Plus Programme to enable stakeholders to look at ways to build climate resilient societies.

The REDD-Plus programme is a sustainable management system which includes practicing sustainable logging, carbon enhancement and forests conservation.

Forest Minister Osea Naiqamu has emphasized that REDD-Plus program contributes towards the development of a national carbon trading policy.

“The underline intension of the Fiji National REDD+ program is to build climate resilient societies and to enhance the livelihoods of local communities.”

Naiqamu says the Programme will involve the participation of all relevant stakeholders coming from various sectors and agencies.

“Fiji has been in this phase for the last ten years with extensive consultation and capacity building undertaken with various stakeholders and local communities.”

The Fiji REDD-Plus Programme will undertake necessary research with the approval of relevant authorities, to enable the achievement of its goals.
