The Ministry of Agriculture’s rehabilitation work in Sigatoka Valley is progressing well.
Director Extension Services, Uraia Waibuta says the Ministry has already distributed 200,000 seedlings to farmers in the Valley.
Waibuta says machinery to clean drains and prepare land for planting has been given in Mavua District.
He says seedlings that are being prepared at the Ministry’s nursery will be distributed once the farms are ready.
Farmers of Mavua mainly export their produce.
Waibuta says it will take about two months before vegetable supply in local markets will normalise.
