Regional energy training centre to be set up

A regional training centre will be set up at the Energy Fiji Limited’s control centre in Lautoka.

Infrastructure Minister, Jone Usamate highlighted this while speaking during the project for introduction of hybrid power generation system in Pacific island countries.

Usamate says the centre will be a platform for people to learn and enhance their knowledge.

“The establishment of that training center will complement and enhance our position to be the regional hub on research and development of hybrid power technologies in the Pacific.”

Usamate says the hybrid power generation system project which began in 2017 is expected to be completed in June 2022.

He adds the project covers five Pacific island countries which includes Fiji, Kiribati, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands and Tuvalu.
