The Consumer Council of Fiji is urging consumers to refrain giving their PIN or any other personal information to anyone.

This is after a recent incident where a consumer found her bank account to be overdrawn leaving her with only $7.80 after she used the EFTPOS machine at a local supermarket.

The consumer says she used the machine to pay for her shopping and withdrew $200 for later use.

After the transaction, the cashier told the consumer she has $587.80 remaining in her account.

The consumer walked away without realizing that she had left the card which has the PIN number written on it, at the supermarket.

She later checked her balance only to find out that she was left with $7.80 only.

A complaint has been filed with the supermarket and the Police.
