The Consumer Council of Fiji is urging traders and retailers to refrain from selling hazardous and harmful products to children.
The council verified that the three students involved in suicide and attempted suicide in Vatuwaqa on Monday allegedly purchased a hazardous product from a hardware shop to take their life after failing their exams.
The Council is urging retailers to prevent the irresponsible use, sale, and marketing of risky products.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Methodist Church Rev. Dr. Epineri Vakadewavosa is urging parents and guardians to pay close attention to their children.
He says proper counseling needs to be carried out in schools and parents need to help children understand that failure in exams is not the end of the world.
