Police are again urging the public to refrain from abusing their emergency contact lines.

The 917 emergency contact line is solely dedicated to emergency responses.

It continues to be misused by people with no valid reason for calling or ringing and hanging up on the operators.

Police are requesting the public to stop making such calls as it engages the phone lines for what could be a genuine call for an emergency situation.

Police are hopeful people will understand the seriousness of this issue and cooperate with them in educating others on the purpose of these emergency lines.
