A lot of reforms are required to change the attitude of workers at various Municipal Councils around the country.

Local government Minister Premila Kumar highlighted this while speaking on the debate of the review report of the Ministry of Local Government in parliament.

Kumar acknowledged that there is a problem and there is a great need to change the way things are happening.

She says she will not deny issues concerning the municipal councils and they are currently in the process of implementing changes.

_“We’ve made a lot of difference and we are working towards improving the civil servants who are working in the local government with the help of the civil service reform unit, we have already conducted a review of the Ministry and we found where the problems were.”

Kumar confirmed some of the issues found during the review were rectified however there needs to be continuous improvement of the systems and processes that are currently in place.
