Red Cross prepare for disaster

With the cyclone season starting next week, the Fiji Red Cross Society has started their preparations for disaster risk management.

The society has started their pre-cyclone briefings on preparing national emergency plans.

The society is at in its preparedness has containers at all its fourteen
branches should there be a need during a natural disaster.

“In those containers we have back-up, phone in our ready for us to be able to respond in the event of a disaster. We have set-up our communications system that is independent; our satellite phones so that we can be independent of the mobile phone system.”

About 200 active volunteers are conducting activities such as dengue cleanup campaign and other localized activities.
