February 24, 2018 12:40 am

The Real Estate Association is planning to meet with stakeholders who carry out settlements on sale of properties.

Association President, Vyas Deo Sharma, says they aim to reduce the time it takes to carry out these settlements as in many cases it takes six to eight months.

Sharma says they will meet with the Bankers Association, the Lands Department, the Fiji National Provident Fund and legal counsels.

“Customers get very upset, some of them want to dispose their properties and go away, overseas or probably they need money for some other purpose. And likewise the customer who is buying the property wants to move in to that house.”

Sharma adds processing these sales and settling it after more than half a year is unacceptable.
