Ratu Naiqama to step in if Rabuka is convicted

Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu will step in as acting Deputy Party Leader of SODELPA if Sitiveni Rabuka is found guilty today.

This is was confirmed to FBC News by a senior member of the party.

According to the amendments or the resolutions made at the party’s AGM earlier this year, if Rabuka is convicted than the party leader which is Ratu Naiqama will be acting in the position until the management board appoints someone for the post.

Rabuka’s judgement will be delivered at the Suva magistrate’s court today.
FBC News understands that Ratu Naiqama will highly likely take over the reins from Rabuka.

Last month, Rabuka told FBC News he had appointed Ratu Naiqama as the deputy leader, however, Ratu Naiqama denied this and insisted that proper procedures must be followed.

Other senior members of the party who might be in contention for the position are Ro Teimumu Kepa, Niko Nawaikula and Viliame Gavoka.
