A family is still trying to come to terms with the death of Fiji National Ratu Manasa Silinabaravi, serving with the British Army in Afghanistan last week.

FBC News visited the family in Kinoya yesterday to see them still shattered and still trying to make funeral arrangements.

Ratu Manasa is the eldest of the six siblings, and after the death of his parents, Manasa was responsible for three brothers and two sisters.

To the pride of his family, Private Silibaravi served in the British Army for twelve years.

His grandmother Adi Ana Tutora, still recalls the painful moment when British Army Support Officer Major Jim Hall visited their home Kinoya.

She says Ratu Manasa’s passing is more painful knowing what a gentle person he was and how he always joked with family members.

“This will be the family’s first Christmas without him but they rejoice in the fact that he lived caring for others”.
