Rarawai Mill terminates crushing for 2017

The Rarawai Mill terminated its 2017 crushing season last Saturday.

Fiji Sugar Corporation Chief Operating Officer Navin Chandra thanked the employees of the Mill for their efforts in ensuring the mill’s operations.

Chandra says that the Rarawai mill crushed close to 500,000 tonnes of cane this year compare to 338,038 tonnes in 2016.

He says this is a 48% increase in cade production.

Chandra adds that 55,366 tonnes of sugar was made this year compared to 27,266 last year.

He says that they recognize the effects of the meteorological drought that has affected the growth of the existing crop and new crop planted and will work vigorously with growers to ensure they make the best of the rest of the season.
