The Fiji Sugar Corporation is pleased with a good start to the crushing season at the Rarawai Sugar Mill in Ba since last Wednesday.
Chief Executive Officer – Abdul Khan told FBC News that crushing began smoothly on Wednesday with only a slight disruption due to lack of cane supply.
However Khan says the delivery of sugarcane has picked up and the mill is crushing with no issues.
The Rarawai Sugar Mill is expected to crush around four hundred thousand tonnes of cane – of which about one hundred and ten thousand tonnes is expected from the four sectors in Rakiraki.
The Penang Sugar Mill is not running this crushing season because of extensive damage sustained during T C Winston.
