Raqamate tipped for greater heights

Not since the days of the great Waisale Serevi has the Fiji 7s rugby team had a dynamic sweeper who could run riot at Hong Kong.

However, the Fiji coaching staff believe they could have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Joji Raqamate.

Raqamate, who will be making his Hong Kong debut this week, played sweeper for the side at the Marist 7s a fortnight ago and showed glimpses of his capabilities.

Fiji coach Alivereti Dere says despite critics questioning Raqamate’s defensive capabilities, he has a lot of faith in the Wardens man.

“So that is what we have been training him for the last two weeks and emphasis has been on that. He will be coming in when the days come and you can see what he has.”
