A Kadavu man has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for two counts of rape.

In May 2008, the victim and the convict took a boat from Ono to Natusara.

She was taking her son to school.

On the way back the boat engine developed problems leaving the man and the victim drifting through the night.

It was during this time that the woman was raped twice by the boat operator.

He must serve 5 years without parole.
