Rape accused to appear in separate charges

31 year old Ilaitia Nalawa who is currently facing an alleged rape charge in the Suva High Court is expected to appear in court for separate offences.

He is facing charges of shop-breaking, larceny and giving false information to a police officer.

This alleged offence took place in March 2009 at the Supreme Fuel Limited shop in Nabua Suva.

Nalawa was at the time, employed as a security officer at the shop.

The case will be called on the 10th of this month.

Meanwhile, at his rape trial yesterday, Nalawa took the stand and claimed that he was threatened by police.

He also showed that he didn’t have a mole on his finger or a tattoo of a bird on his leg as described by police when searching for a suspect.

Nalawa is on trial for allegedly raping a nine year old girl of Nakasi, Nausori on July 7th, last year.

The case continues in the Suva High Court.
