Ramsden farewelled by Fisheries Ministry

The Ministry of Fisheries today farewelled the outgoing New Zealand Ambassador to Fiji, Mark Ramsden.

Minister, Semi Koroilavesau says since Ramsden’s arrival there has been a lot of improvement in the fisheries sector.

Koroilavesau says working with HSMZ Hawea, has had a positive impact on their work in protecting our waters and sorting out illegal fishing.

“I think the re-position of the Hawea had created a lot of impact to Fiji. I think it is not only its ability to be able to accommodate our Navy and our fisheries officers in carrying out patrols. It has also highlighted to us what we can do to improve our own capability in monitoring control and surveillance of our coastal areas."

Ramsden will depart on the 8th December for another post in Ethiopia.

Meanwhile, the incoming New Zealand Ambassador to Fiji, Jonathan Kur will arrive in the country in February 2018.
