Rakiraki town to remain open through Easter

April 4, 2012 1:13 am

Business operation in Rakiraki town will continue throughout the long Easter weekend.

Rakiraki town special administrator Saini Raiko says business owners want to make up for the loss over the past few days.

“Things are back to normal. Business owners are now approaching the council for request on approval to remain open throughout the weekend. It appears that flooding when compared to the one which occurred in January is not worse and we are lucky compared to those in Nadi and other towns. Transport is normal, water supply is intermittent but authorities are working tirelessly to restore power and water to affected areas. All government department heads are now waiting the Prime Minister’s visit later this afternoon to brief him of the current situation here.”

Raiko has thanked the efforts made by business owners who had started cleaning their premises after the flooding.

Meanwhile Sigatoka Town is now open after three days of cleaning up.
