“The whole of Rakiraki is under water now. This is the worst flood that has ever happened to Rakiraki town which has an impact of the rural side of Rakiraki. The Qalau River direct to Qalau road and straight to FSC is closed. Most of the family have been stranded and they are trying to get to higher grounds. They said the place where they reside haven not been flooded like this before.”

Tavaga says more than ten evacuation centres are open in Rakiraki and affected people are being urged to move.
