Miss World Fiji Nanise Rainima came third, placing her in the Top 5 for talent category at the Miss World 2017 underway in Sanya, China.
This is the highest ever achievement for Fiji in the Miss World competition.
Rainima sang a song while playing a piano – an original piece she wrote that is dedicated to her late grandmother.
Her grandmother was a cancer survivor who passed away in 2013.
With only four days remaining, Rainima says the competition is not over yet.
“I’m thankful to God for this opportunity. There’s so much I am learning here in Sanya, China. So many beautiful friendships have been made and lifelong relationships with these beautiful ambassadors of their countries. I am blessed really and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey.”
Miss World Fiji Director, Andhy Blake, says Rainima’s placing in talent is a historic moment for Fiji as we have never been placed in a talent fast track before.
He adds being a finalist in two fast track events is also a milestone achievement.
Rainima has also made the Top 20 list for Beauty with a Purpose.
The Miss World crowning will be held on Saturday.
