Rain and strong winds are expected during polling day on Wednesday.

Fiji Met Office Director Ravind Kumar says a trough of low pressure lies slow moving over Fiji whilst another trough of low pressure is expected to drift towards the group from Northwest and will bring rain from tomorrow until Friday.

“Those who are going out for the polling on Wednesday, would expect rain, heavy at times and strong and gusty winds, so therefore be prepared when out there for polling.”

Kumar says they expect rain to increase from occasional rain to heavy at times with squally thunderstorms come polling day.

He adds the system will affect the whole of Fiji.

Meanwhile, a heavy rain alert is now in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca group, eastern half of Viti Levu, western Vanua Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti group.
