Radio Australia resumes in Fiji

July 10, 2012 7:18 pm

Radio Australia has resumed transmission in Fiji.

The Permanent Secretary for Information Sharon Smith-Johns says Radio Australia has been back on-air for the last two weeks.

She says this is good as it will give listeners a broader range of international news to listen to.

It has also expanded its broadcast area, launching a new transmitter in Labasa with plans to launch another in Ba in the coming weeks.

Radio Australia was pulled off air in 2009 – since then it was only available to Fijian audiences via shortwave radio and internet streaming.
