Rabuka remains with SODELPA

July 8, 2014 5:18 am

Former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says he has decided to remain with the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) despite a disagreement with the party leadership and some members.

Rabuka had earlier expressed interest in the party’s leadership as well as contesting the election as a SODELPA candidate.

However, some party members objected because he led the coup of 1987.

“When I looked at the real issues that the party stands for I still believe in those regardless of the short comings of our personal views and statements etc.”

Rabuka recently attended a meeting of SODELPA supporters from the province of Cakaudrove to show support for their candidate, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.
