Qiliho to meet investigating team next week

The Acting Police Commissioner is expected to meet his senior officers and the investigating team next week to draw up a timeline on the investigation of an alleged destabilization plot.

Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho today met with internet cafe owner Rajneel Singh in Lautoka to give assurances for the safety of the businessman’s family.

Brigadier General Qiliho says he wants to expedite the investigation into the alleged plot to assassinate members of the Parliament .

”I want investigations to be completed expeditiously so we can bring this incase to some closure and if people need to be produced in court then we will do that.”

Brigadier General Qiliho will be meeting with key people involved in the investigation from the Cyber Crime Unit, criminal Investigation department and others on Monday.

He says the meeting is expected to draw a time line to discuss directions they can move towards in regards to the investigation.

”But unfortunately on the alleged police brutality side in regards to his abduction, we haven’t been able to identify anyone. In regards to the break in at his internet shop we haven’t been able to crack that one as well.”

During his visit, Brigadier General Qiliho has reassured Rajneel Singhs family of their safety and security.

”They’re sending patrols to the Singh’s residence to look after them at night, exchanged phone numbers and provided police coverage to areas where they were visiting.”

The Acting Police Commissioner says investigations have also started to find out about the Molotov cocktail bomb that was thrown to his residence causing minor damages.
