Hundreds of Fijians took advantage of the Public Health Screening at Ratu Sukuna Park in Suva this morning.
Medical staff from the Indian Naval Ship “Sahyadri” along with officers from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and staff from the Health Ministry are currently conducting checks.
National Manager Blood and Ambulance Service, Joseva Bolaqale says this is an opportunity for Fijians to know of their health status.
“It’s just a general check-up basically looking at sugar levels, your pressure, height and weight. Something that we just ignore at times and then it comes up in the future because it slowly builds up and then at the end of the day you are suffering from diabetes. This can be the preventative measures that you can take, while walking in the streets of Suva it’s best to come have your check to know your status.”
Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal says they’re expecting more people this afternoon as screenings will continue until 4pm.
