Public consultations on Town Planning Act

The Ministry of Local Government, Housing and Environment will hold public consultations on the review of Fiji’s Town Planning Act (1978) and the Subdivision of Land Act (1973).

The Department of Town and Country Planning in consultation with the Solicitor General’s Office has prepared the first draft of the revised Town Planning Act (Cap 139) and the Subdivision of Land Act (Cap 140).

Public Consultations and awareness is planned for each town and the surrounding areas to explain the new process for lodging development and rezoning applications, and Subdivision applications for agricultural subdivisions as per the drafts.

The public and relevant stakeholders are invited to express their views and recommendations on the amendments.

The consultations are scheduled for 12 weeks and are expected to start in Suva on 10th November.
