The Public Service Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to ensure that it has a pool of diplomats for overseas postings.
PSC Chairman Vishnu Mohan says the training is vital for diplomats to be flexible and adapt to embrace the changes taking place into account a country’s foreign policy priorities and challenges.
‘’To be good in this job you have to be a quick thinker, problem solver, tactful and matured in your approach and well organized. You will need to communicate well both written and spoken’’.
Forty five civil servants and diplomats are currently undergoing training to enhance their diplomatic skills.
The Induction course for Diplomatic Service will for the first time see the participation of Youth Volunteers and Ambassadors and participants from other Pacific island countries.
