Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Jennifer Poole has launched the Bands by the Beach initiative in Suva.

The University of the South Pacific is working with the Ministry in organizing this annual charity event next month.

Poole says it’s unique as it establishes grounds for connectedness with the people, defining a proactive measure to ignite change, which also makes a positive impact in the community by providing people with a renewed sense of hope.

She emphasized the importance to learn from institutions and organizations in Fiji that are engaging, as part of their corporate social responsibility to give back to the community.

“The proceeds from the charity event will be distributed equally to the children’s homes and the non-governmental organizations, therefore, this is all part of the move to building a better future for our Fijian families.”

The PS applauded the University for their contributions and good intention to help those in need – so that they achieve a common good through sustainable livelihoods and family stability.
