PS contracts to be extended for another 6 months

The Public Service Commission has agreed to extend the contracts of current Permanent Secretaries by another six months.

PSC Chairman Vishnu Mohan says the current contracts expire at the end of the month.

‘’What we have decided to do is possibly extend the contracts for further 6 months but on the strict understanding that between now and before the end of this year we will have recruited all the people we want for the positions and the various jobs and that will be done in a very transparent process’’.

Mohan says the Commission’s key focus is get the right people for the right job.

The commission met for the first time today.

The members are Nesbitt Hazelman-CEO for Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation, commercial Lawyer Bhavna Narayan, businessmen Daksesh Patel and Kalpesh Solanki and USP Academic, Dr Akanisi Kedrayate.
