PS contracts renewed for another 3 months

The contracts of current Acting Permanent Secretaries have been extended for a further three months.
Minister for Public Service Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum says the contracts have been renewed until June as they have yet to appoint the Public Service Commission.
‘’The contracts have been renewed for another 3 months as this will allow time for the PSC to be appointed and for them the PSC to advertise for positions have the interviews and then carry out the appointments so this is why the contracts have been renewed for another 3 months’’.
The Minister the positions will be advertised once the Public Service Commission is appointed.
Under the Constitution, the PSC is appointed by the Constitutional Offices Commission-consisting of the Prime Minister as the Chairman, Opposition Leader, the Attorney General and two persons appointed by the President on the advice of the Prime Minister and one person appointed on the advice of the Opposition Leader.
The Public Service Commission will consist of a Chairperson and not less than 3 or not more than 5 other members.
The appointments are made by the President on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission.
