Prosecution witness said he was told to look for Ali

The prosecution witness in a murder trial yesterday informed the court that he was instructed to look for Imshaad Izraar Ali on 10th November 2009.

Ali is charged with one count of murder and it is alleged that on November 3rd, 2009 he murdered his de-facto partner, kindergarten teacher Rajeshni Sharma at her residence on Rewa Street, Samabula.

Sergeant Samuela Namuso said that a day later he received a call from the receptionist of a motel in Suva to inform him of Ali.

Namuso said the receptionist told him that Ali checked into their motel and would check out the next day.

He said he went to the motel with other officers the next day and arrested Ali.

He said Ali was shocked when they informed him of the incident.

The trial continues at the Suva High Court today.
