The proposed Fiji United Freedom Party is confident they have met the criteria set by the Fijian Elections Office to enable them to register as a political party to contest the September elections.
Proposed party President Jagath Karunaratne says they have managed to collect the signatures of eight thousand people, surpassing the required five thousand.
Karunaratne says the proposed party made the submission two weeks ago.
The proposed party’s application of registration under the Political Parties Decree was earlier rejected by the Registrar of Political Parties after it was found that out of the 5489 signatures provided only 3822 were valid.
