The proposed Fiji United Freedom Party is confident they have met the criteria set by the Fijian Elections Office to enable them to register as a political party to contest the September elections.

Proposed party President Jagath Karunaratne says they have managed to collect the signatures of eight thousand people, surpassing the required five thousand.

Karunaratne says the proposed party made the submission two weeks ago.
