The prolonged cold spell hovering over the country is expected to clear by the end of the coming week.
Director of Meteorology Ravind Kumar says the prevalent high pressure system together with the cool winds from the south of the country is causing the shivers over the past weeks.
Kumar says the cold spell over the past few weeks has been dropping below 15degrees, with the lowest temperature recorded this morning…
“So far in the past week we have been seeing temperatures falling and we got the lowest from Keiyasi, which registered 10.6 degrees last night and there are several other locations in Fiji that has recorded less than 15 degree centigrade, Majority of the stations they have recorded below 20 degrees centigrade last night.”
Kumar says the cool season has also been amplified with the widespread effect of the el-nino throughout the Pacific region.
