Procedures outlined in the SODELPA constitution will be followed when appointing the next party leader.
Party President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu says they have received the outgoing party leader Sitiveni Rabuka’s resignation.
He says the management board is yet to decide on the resignation as it’s too early to make a decision now.
“Conditions and works are still outstanding and after that we will be able to entertain a new party leader within the requirement of our constitution as well. So everything is within the constitution. That is just the formality and there are conditions to be carried out as well.”
SODELPA says it will advertise for the position of a party leader that will take them into the 2022 general election.
While this is still in discussion, Rabuka says appointment of other office bearers will go ahead as discussed during the party’s annual general meeting.
