Privatization of the Government Printing and Stationery Department will not cause any job loss to current workers.
This was highlighted by Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. He adds that all employees of GPSD have been offered jobs by Serendib Investment who has now taken over the business.
Sayed-Khaiyum says the decision to join or not to join the printery will depend on the workers.
“ All personnel who have been working in Government Printery have had job offers from Serendib Investment and they need to comply with the standards that they will set and others have chosen not to, some have gone to other places but all staff have been offered job opportunities with the new company.”
Meanwhile, Fijian Holdings Group chief executive, Nouzab Fareed says they have retained 70 staff members.
He says the welfare of these staffs is now their responsibility and priority.
