The Water Authority of Fiji will now be coming down hard on those who owe them money.

Following government’s waiver of a hundred and thirty four million dollars in outstanding bills……the Authority says…it’s time that customers start paying up.

CEO Opetaia Ravai says from now on…If you are past your payment due date….your meter will be disconnected.

“It does not really matter what the amount is, if it’s up for disconnection – we will disconnect. If it’s a $5 bill, a $7 bill or a $50 bill – there is no reason why people cannot pay that.”

Ravai says if people can afford luxury items .then surely…they can afford to pay their bills.

“You see people recharge their phones every day. People buy grog every day. We just want to send out the message to prioritize your water bill because without water – life is just uncomfortable.”

WAF claims they provide the cheapest service anywhere in the world – where a thousand liters of water costs only 15 cents and should be easy to pay-off bills.
