Prime Minister meets JICA President

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama met with Japan International Cooperation Assistance (JICA) President Shinichi Kitaoka in Iwaki, Japan yesterday.

Technical cooperation between Fiji and JICA, including ongoing cooperation programs in Fiji and key projects currently undertaken by JICA in Fiji were the basis of discussion.

Key projects such as the Nadi River project and the construction of the Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge were the focus of the discussions held.

The Prime Minister acknowledge JICA’s technical assistance and Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) that continue to provide valuable support through technical training, human resources and project development in various sectors in Fiji.

Kitaoka commends Fiji’s leadership as a remarkable one adding Fiji is very visible on the international scene.

He adds Fiji is a good partner to Japan and showed the essence of success.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Fiji being the hub of the Pacific ensures development of infrastructure and ports of entry.

He adds Continuous progress of this development has resulted in the commencement of direct flights from Nadi to Tokyo in July.
