Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has called for the further strengthening of the Fiji Navy at the 40th Anniversary of the Fiji Navy yesterday in Suva.

Amongst invited guests was Nikita Brown, the grand-daughter of Commander Stanley Brown who established the naval division.

“Many believed in the early years that establishing a Naval force was not an economical viable exercise. One man alone could never have achieved what we bear witness to today. It has taken a combined effort of many committed people to create and maintain the Fiji Navy and if my Grandfather was here today he would be so proud.”

Relatives as well as retired naval officers celebrated the milestone event at the Naval Base in Walu Bay yesterday afternoon.
